Hello Morrill Chapter alumni:
Alpha Zeta needs your help! Please consider donating to Penn State's Dance Marathon on behalf of the Morrill Chapter. We are Allison Hartman and Michael Rush, and we will be representing Alpha Zeta in this year's THON. If you are unfamiliar with THON, it is an annual 46 hour dance marathon whose proceeds go to the Four Diamonds Fund at Hershey Medical Center, which benefits the families of children with pediatric cancer.
The Morrill Chapter of Alpha Zeta has steadily become more involved with this amazing philanthropy. Last year, we raised over $11,000 and earned the privilege of being paired with the Kemberlings, a Four Diamonds family from Lebanon, PA. Their son Chase, age 5, was diagnosed with lymphoma in late 2013, and by January of last year was declared cancer free! Through our pairing with the Kemberlings, we have not only been able to see firsthand the amazing ways our fundraising benefits families, but have developed a close relationship with this special family. We are looking forward to sharing another THON weekend with the Kemberlings, this year held February 20-22.
However, we are greatly in need of your help. Unfortunately, our fundraising efforts this year have not been as successful as those in the past. Currently, we are only at a fraction of previous years' totals. Our biggest concern is that we could lose the ability to have dancers in the future or be unable to continue our pairing with the Kemberling family. Being paired with our family has been an incredible experience for all of us here at Alpha Zeta and we would be crushed if we were unable to continue the relationship.
THON is an amazing philanthropy that has helped hundreds of children and families beat cancer through financial support, emotional care, and continued medical research. If you can find it in your heart and budget to donate, it will mean the world to us and more importantly, it will make a difference in a child's life.
